Separate from a university degree, Australia offers a vocational education and training (VET) track where you can earn a hands-on qualification in six months to two years and start working straight away. TAFE is the leading provider, and some courses are free through Free TAFE. With lower cost and shorter duration than a degree, it is a practical route to a qualification for foreigners settling in Australia.
