How to Use AUWith

A first-time user guide to AUWith covering sign-up, core features, posting and trading, notifications and profile, and founding member badges, all in one page.

1. Sign-up and onboarding

Sign up, set your region and language, and AUWith starts surfacing content tailored to you. The flow is designed to be done in under a minute.

Sign-up methods

  • Email — register with email and password, activate via verification link.
  • Google OAuth — instant sign-up with a Google account, no separate password needed.
  • Apple Sign In — instant sign-up with an Apple account, convenient for iOS users.

Setting your region

Choose your state (NSW, VIC, QLD, etc.) right after signing up. Boards and content for the chosen region appear first, and you can change it anytime in your profile.

Language settings

Choose from Korean, English, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Spanish and French — 7 languages. Switch from the language selector in the top right; URLs are also split per language.

2. Explore core features

AUWith bundles seven core features that you need for settling in Australia. Each feature is auto-filtered by your region.

  • Jobs — full-time, part-time, and Working Holiday roles by category.
  • Property — rent, sale, share house, and short-term stay listings.
  • Marketplace — second-hand trading, free giveaways, and vehicle sales.
  • Business directory — restaurants, salons, clinics, tutoring and more
  • Events — community meetups, festivals, concerts
  • Hot deals — popular OzBargain deals translated into each language
  • Guides — a curated collection of 30 essential Australia life guides.
To find specific information quickly, use the unified search.

3. Posting and trading

Posting flow

  • Tap 'Write' at the top or the + button at the bottom on mobile.
  • Pick a category — Jobs, Property, Marketplace, etc.
  • Enter region, title, body, and photos (optional).
  • Preview and publish — your post appears in the chosen category immediately.

1:1 messaging trade

If you are interested in a listing, start a 1:1 chat from the 'Send Message' button on the post. We recommend meeting in person to inspect the item before payment.

Community guidelines

Scams, hate speech, discrimination, and illegal trades violate the guidelines and may be removed. Report suspicious activity using the report button at the top right of any post.

Change your password, set up two-factor authentication (TOTP), and review login history from the security tab. Enabling 2FA is recommended.

Deep Dive: From Account Recovery to Multilingual Communities, Premium and Mobile

Once you've got the hang of signing up and the basics, it's worth going a level deeper: what to do when something goes wrong with your account, the rules around managing what you've posted, how the five-language community structure works, and the paid features and trust systems. Everything below is based on how the site actually behaves.

Account Security & Recovery

Resetting Your Password (Forgot Password)

Enter the email you signed up with under 'Forgot Password' on the login screen and a reset link will be sent to you. You'll need to pass the Cloudflare Turnstile check (it keeps the bots out), and for security the reset link is only valid for 30 minutes. If it's expired, just request a new one from the start.

When the Reset Email Doesn't Arrive (Email Not Received)

First check your spam folder and promotions tab, and double-check the email address for typos. By design, the site shows 'email sent' even if the address isn't registered (so it never reveals whether an account exists), so if nothing turns up, the first thing to verify is that you're using the address you actually signed up with. Requesting too many resets in a short window can trigger a temporary limit, so leave a few minutes between attempts.

Login Trouble with Google/Apple Accounts (OAuth Account)

Accounts created via the Google or Apple buttons don't have a password at all. That means typing the same email into the email + password fields won't log you in, and a password reset email won't fix it either. The answer is to log in with the same OAuth button you originally signed up with — a classic mistake is signing up with Google and then repeatedly trying 'Forgot Password'.

Lost Your 2FA Device (2FA Recovery)

There's currently no backup code feature, so before you swap or wipe your phone, make sure you disable 2FA first while logged in, under the Security tab in My Page, then set it up again on the new device. While logged in, email accounts can disable it by confirming their password, and OAuth accounts by entering their current 2FA code. If you've also lost your authenticator app (Google Authenticator etc.) and can't log in at all, you may need to reach the team via the Contact page to verify your identity.

Login Lockouts and Browser Modes (Login Lockout)

Three failed 2FA codes within a minute trigger a brief lockout to block brute-force attacks, so if a code fails, wait for your authenticator app to generate a fresh one before trying again. Also, in private browsing mode your login session cookie is deleted the moment you close the window — having to log in again each time is normal behaviour.

Managing Posts & Comments After Publishing

Editing and Deleting (Edit & Delete)

Only the author can edit or delete a post, and there's no time limit. But once deleted, a post disappears from the listings immediately and there's no way to restore it yourself — so for content you might reuse, like marketplace listings, editing the post is safer than deleting it.

Scheduled Publishing

On the final preview step when writing a post, switch on the scheduled publishing toggle and pick a future time — the post stays off the boards until then and goes live automatically. It's handy for event announcements or job ads you want to land at a specific time, and you can change the scheduled time from the edit screen before it publishes.

Posting Limits and New Account Checks (Rate Limit)

You can create up to 10 posts or comments per 5 minutes, and repeatedly posting similar titles within 5 minutes can get you flagged as spam. New accounts under 24 hours old face stricter banned-word and scam-pattern checks, so avoid firing off a string of promotional posts full of external links right after signing up.

How Reports Are Handled (Report Handling)

When reporting a post you choose from five reasons — spam, abusive language, inappropriate, suspected scam, or other — and can add up to 500 characters of detail. The team aims for an initial review within 24 hours, using internal standards informed by Australia's Online Safety Act 2021, and any post that racks up 3 reports is automatically hidden even before review. You can't report your own posts or report the same post twice, and there's no report-tracking page — outcomes show up as the post being hidden or removed.

Quality Score System (Quality Score)

Every post is automatically scored 0–100 by AI, displayed as a five-tier colour badge (red through to green) on the post page and in your post list in My Page. Specific, information-rich titles and content tend to score higher, so treat it as a useful guide for improving your posts.

Multilingual Use, Content Visibility and Language Communities

How Boards Are Split by Language (Locale Separation)

Every post stores the language it was written in, so /ko/ shows only Korean posts and /en/ only English ones — seven language communities run separately. To see what is being posted in another language community, switch with the selector in the top right; you stay logged in.

Search Stays Within the Current Language (Search Scope)

The site-wide search only covers posts in the language you're currently viewing. Searching 'apartment' on the English pages, for example, won't surface a share house listing written in Chinese. To find listings or info from other language communities, switch languages and run the same search again — that's the reliable way to do it.

Auto-Translating Your Posts (Auto Translate)

Turn on the auto-translate option at the preview step and your title and body are pre-translated into all five languages when the post is saved. Readers in other languages can then toggle the translation, marked with an 'auto-translated' badge — great for widening the reach of posts with cross-language demand, like share houses and second-hand sales. The original always shows by default.

Manual Translation and Auto-Translated Comments (Manual Translation)

The 'Translate this post' button on a post page lets you read the content in your own language, and switching on auto-translation in My Page translates comments written in other languages automatically. Machine translation being what it is, though, it's worth making a habit of cross-checking the original for anything important — amounts, dates, deal terms.

Why It Pays to Use the English Community Too (Cross-language Participation)

Most information about life in Australia gathers in the English community, so using the /en/ boards alongside your native-language ones dramatically widens what you can find. A post's visibility is determined by the language it's written in, so job ads or listings meant for English speakers need to be written in English on the English pages.

Accessing Special Content Categories (Premium, Business, Experts)

Free vs Premium (Premium Tiers)

All the core features — boards, direct messages, trading, notifications — are completely free. Premium is a monthly subscription in three tiers (Basic, Pro and Business): every tier gets an ad-free experience, a premium badge and monthly credits, Pro and above add analytics, and Business includes API access and priority support. Pricing and inclusions can change, so check the pricing page on the site for the latest details.

How Payments Work (Payment Methods)

Depending on the period, payment may be by card (Stripe) or by manual payment via PayID or bank transfer. With manual payment, you create a payment request, complete the transfer, and the team activates the feature once they've confirmed it — so if it doesn't kick in straight after you transfer, check the status on your payment history page.

Bumping and Boosting (Bump & Boost)

Marketplace, property and car listings can be pinned to the top of the list for 24–48 hours with a small payment (around AUD 2–4) using Bump, which only the post's author can purchase. Businesses listed in the directory can use Boost in 7, 14 or 30-day blocks for higher placement in search results, and a business that's already boosted can't buy another boost until the current one ends.

Business Verification and Analytics Tools (Business Tools)

Business owners who list their business can submit their ABN for an automatic lookup against the Australian Business Register (ABR) to earn a trust score and a verified badge, and can lift that score further by submitting trading licence documents. There's also an analytics dashboard tracking page visits and clicks, plus self-serve ads you can run yourself.

Expert Consultation Platform (Expert Consultation)

You can browse expert profiles in fields like tax and migration law, book a consultation, and leave a review afterwards; experts who've passed the site's verification carry a verified mark. For high-stakes matters like visas and tax, though, we strongly recommend confirming credentials with the official body first — registered migration agents via MARA (searchable at mara.gov.au) and registered tax agents via the Tax Practitioners Board — before going ahead.

Community Trust, Reputation and Report Handling

Reading Profile Trust Signals (Trust Signals)

User profiles publicly show an activity score (points), earned badges, join date and activity history. Badges are awarded automatically for milestones — first post, 100 comments (helper), 7/30/100-day login streaks, 10 followers — and you can set one as your featured badge to display next to your nickname. Opening the other person's profile before any trade is the most basic safety habit there is.

Trade Rating System (Trade Rating)

Once a trade completes, buyer and seller can rate each other from 1 to 5 with a comment, limited to one rating per listing — which makes gaming the scores hard. The average rating is shown on the profile, so for higher-value trades check both the rating and the number of reviews. Steer well clear of large upfront payments to brand-new accounts with no ratings at all.

Automated Safeguards

Every post and comment is automatically screened for banned words and scam-like patterns, with stricter thresholds for accounts under 24 hours old. A post that collects 3 reports is hidden automatically even before the team reviews it. Being pushed to move straight to an outside messenger, or asked for gift cards or money upfront, are classic scam signals — report them right away.

Suspension Policy

Guideline breaches can result in a fixed-term or permanent suspension depending on severity; login is blocked for the duration and access is restored automatically when the term ends. The specific criteria and escalation steps are set out on the Community Guidelines page.

After You Report, and External Bodies (Follow-up & eSafety)

There's currently no per-report ID or status-tracking page; outcomes are reflected in the reported post being hidden or removed. If you have extra evidence or the matter is urgent, let us know via the Contact page. For serious online abuse or illegal content, you can also report directly to the eSafety Commissioner (esafety.gov.au), the Australian government regulator, independently of any report on the site.

Mobile App vs Website Differences and Offline Notifications

There's No Native App Yet (No Native App Yet)

There's no AUWith app on the App Store or Google Play yet — if you spot one with a similar name, it's not the official service, so don't install it. The mobile web is fully optimised instead, and 'Add to Home Screen' gives you a full-screen, app-like experience without the address bar. On iOS Safari it's the Share button → 'Add to Home Screen'; on Android Chrome it's the menu (⋮) → 'Add to Home Screen'.

Setting Up Push Notifications (Web Push)

Notifications use Web Push: tap the push subscription button in your notification settings and allow the browser's permission prompt, and you'll receive comment and message alerts. On iPhone, Apple's policy means web push only works on iOS 16.4 or later with the site added to your home screen. If you tap 'Block' on the permission prompt once, the site can't ask again — you'll need to switch notifications to 'Allow' yourself in the browser's per-site settings.

Offline Limitations (Offline Behavior)

There's currently no offline cache or offline message sync, so without an internet connection you can't browse pages or send and receive messages. If you're writing a long post somewhere with patchy reception — on the train, say — copy your text before hitting post so you don't lose it if the upload fails. Messages reload from the server once you're back online.

Managing Browser Permissions (Browser Permissions)

Location permission is used for nearby search in the business directory and property maps, and photo uploads work through file selection with no camera permission needed. Since this isn't a native app, remember that permissions live in your browser's per-site settings (Chrome: Settings → Site settings; Safari: the Settings app → Safari), not in your phone's app settings.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I sign up?▾

Both email sign-up and OAuth (Google, Apple) are supported. You can start instantly with a password or OAuth, and later link other login methods from your profile.

Why do I need to set my region?▾

AUWith prioritises content based on your region. Sydney users see NSW boards first, while Melbourne users see VIC content first. You can change your region anytime from your profile.

Is the site available in multiple languages?▾

Yes. Korean, English, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Spanish and French — 7 languages are supported. Switch from the language selector in the top right. URLs are split by language (/ko/, /en/, /zh/, etc.) so search engines index each version separately.

What do I need to post or list an item?▾

After signing up, choose a region and category to start posting. Property, vehicle, and business listings need extra fields like address and photos but cost nothing to list (excluding optional ad products).

How can I trade safely with other users?▾

AUWith provides 1:1 messaging, and we recommend meeting in person to inspect items before payment. Suspicious activity can be reported to the moderation team via the report button and is handled per the community guidelines.

How do I get a founding member badge?▾

From the official launch, a set number of early sign-ups receive a permanent founding member badge automatically based on registration order. The badge is displayed on your profile. No additional benefits are promised.
